Update on “Jesus – An Inconvenient Truth”

A Hearsall Baptist Church Mission Project

What we’ve done so far

A meeting was recently held by the team who will be developing the project.  The purpose was to clarify the vision for the Mission Project and to look at how the project might develop.

From the original Project Proposal the purpose was clarified as being about bringing down walls/barriers for people who are wanting to explore their spirituality through Jesus Christ.  These are people who are currently unchurched and may have had no experience or poor experience of church.  Through a series of Open Evenings / Afternoons and home visits if requested we would listen to what people want that would help develop their faith.  It would not be about proselytising but about listening and being a friendly face.  A kind of audit, but on a more informal level.  THIS IS NOT ABOUT KNOCKING DOORS OR COLD CALLING.

It was proposed that the open sessions would be 2 till 3 in the afternoons and 5.30 till 9.00 in the evenings with project workers working in shifts.  Refreshments would be provided.  Dates are to be confirmed.

It was agreed that we provide a leaflet about Hearsall, which would cover the headings:

· Who we are

· What we believe

· What we currently provide including community use of the building

· What can we provide for you?

Publicity for the project was discussed with recommendations that we get articles in The ECHO, the local free newspapers (Observer & Times), Chatterbox, School Newsletters, plus some leaflets which would be placed on noticeboards or made available in: Libraries, Co-op Chloe, Gabriel’s, Sainsbury’s, Paul Hayes Hairdressers, Pails Bakery etc with perhaps some radio publicity on BBC CWR Religious Programme.

It’s not too late to get involved either practically or prayerfully, so please speak to Martin if you want to find out more.
