News - Organ reaches its Half Century

Older church members will remember that the new church was opened in 1961 without an organ. Shortly afterwards, a member of the church gave £3000 to be used to purchase a pipe organ, which was built by Nelson & Co of Durham, and dedicated on Thursday 15th November 1962.

To mark the 50th anniversary three events are planned. The first is on Saturday 11th February when members of the Coventry & Warwickshire Organists’ Association hold their Annual General Meeting in the Pierson Room. The meeting will be followed by a short organ recital in the church given by the President of the Association, Mr Adrian Moore, who is the organist at Holy Trinity Church, Leamington Spa. The recital will be at 4.00pm, and church members and friends are very welcome to come along and hear Adrian play.

On Saturday 14th July at 7:30pm Finham Choral Society will be making a welcome return visit to Hearsall with a programme of church music accompanied by the organ.

Finally, on Thursday 15th November, the actual day and date of the anniversary of the Dedication, there will be a Service of Thanksgiving, which will contain elements of the 1962 service.
